Proof of Efficacy
Notes:
The processes described, such as combustion, are used in the project to provide heat for the stirling engine, which is required for the machine to function. The sterling engine itself uses concepts from a typical physics class, such as a heat engine model, and gas expansion.
Reflection
As can be seen from our proof of efficacy document, our design did not perform as expected. This was mainly due to the complex nature of the design. In this, our first pit can be seen. We were overly ambitious with our plan, and spent too long trying to discern a unique approach, compared to following step by step instructions that were available. There is a fair chance that if we would have done this, we could have completed the project in time. The method of our creativity needs work. A second fault in our process were days were group members were absent. Due to the split management practices used in our group. With individual members focused on a specific task, a member being absent set the entire group back when we tried to pick up the slack. This highlights our need to decrease our level of conscienceless learning.
However, this highlights a peak of our group: our communication. Although we were too ambitious, we were aware of this fact. This resulted in us splitting up the work, yet still working in tandem to attempt to finish the task. This highlights our collaboration and communication. A second strength of our group was also our main fault. Our audacity in going after a challenging problem did not result in a finished product, but did yield other intangible results. We learned more from being ambitious and failing than being cautious and successful. This highlights our critical thinking
